Kiba Flex or Kiba Oekotex ?

Kiba Rainwear is available in two product ranges, Kiba Flex and Kiba Oekotex. Both ranges are manufactured using the same material type and weight: 170g 100% PU/PA (polyurethane/polyamide) fabric. This lovely, soft and strong fabric is quite unusual in the UK, where PVC is more commonly and cheaply used. It is however, very popular in environmentally conscious Scandinavia, because (unlike PVC) it is free of phthalates (a category of chemical - some strains of which are harmful to health).

Manufactured products can go through a certification procedure, which guarantees that none of these phthalates or other harmful substances are used or produced when they are made. This is called Oekotex certification. The fabric used in the Kiba Oekotex products has been through this process, guaranteeing its environmental safety. The Kiba Flex fabric has not been through the expensive certification procedure but is manufactured using the same type of materials. The overhead of Oekotex certification is reflected in the product prices.

There is some overlap of colours and sizes available for the ranges, and some differences in cut. The Kiba Flex range is sized by child age, where-as the Kiba Oekotex range is sized by child height. The table below offers a cross reference chart to help you choose the appropriate size.
